Oxford Cavaliers were formed in 1996 and have since produced a number of professional players, including Super League star Darrell Griffin who went on to play at the highest level representing England in 2008.

The club are now linked with the city's newly formed professional club Oxford RL, forming part of a player pathway that includes Bartholomew Bulldogs, the Cavaliers and Oxford University.
